Negative Comments Inspire Arabian Monkey's Writers to be Less Funny

How not-funny can they be?

By The Gerk

(Flint)- The writing staff of Arabianmonkey.com has collectively announced that they will be making a concentrated attempt to be "less funny" from now on, in response to negative comments posted on their site over the last two weeks. Comments spurred from an immense influx of traffic began to litter the site as early as last weekend, but the Arabian Monkey staff didn't become disheartened by the negative feedback until late Wednesday.

"I thought our stuff was pretty funny," noted The Douginator, one of the founders of Arabianmonkey.com. "But I guess not."

"I've been writing my entire life, but up until now I didn't realize how not-funny I was," said The Gerk in an article posted on the site. "Now my dreams have been crushed by a handful of people with nothing better to do than tell me how bad I am at my job." He added: "I realize, at this point, that I need to learn to be less funny."

Initially the folks at the wildly successful upstart site were distraught over what they felt was unjust criticism. But after putting up with the negativity for several days, Arabian Monkey realized that perhaps the commenters were pointing them in the right direction.

"I think funny is over rated," explained Max Power, whose recent articles were shelled by critics. "I think we need to avoid humor at all costs; that'll show 'em."

Reports from The Douginator and The Gerk's mothers note that perhaps Arabian Monkey's dry, adult humor may have been looked over by teenage readers none-too-keen on truly recognizing what is funny. But comments from established internet trolls such as "Lard Capsule" paint a different picture. "ridiculously lousy," he writes, spilling lard-ily out of his chair to let Arabianmonkey.com know that he won't be back again... until he clicks on another link to the site.

In the meantime, one can expect that the writers at Arabianmonkey.com will continue to do what they've been doing- inserting dry, sarcastic opinions into craftily written slices of life. Or being not funny. It's your call, really.

If you enjoyed this article, you will most certainly enjoy the rest of Arabianmonkey.com.
